Geres National Park:
Geres National Park was the first protected area founded in Portugal in 1971. It covers a surface of 72000 hectares and offers an extraordinary diversity of sceneries. Exceptional and rare fauna and flora can be found in this area and in no other parts of the country. Human occupation in this region dates from Megalithic period. Celtic and Roman remains abounds in Geres National Park.
